ORIGINAL REPORT:  A multi-pronged terrorist attack occurred late on Wednesday night in Mumbai, India.  Atleast 9 locations were attacked with bombs, grenades, and small arms fire.  These sites included the train station, hospitals, a gas station, and the prestigious five star Oberoi, Taj, and Trident Hotels.  Six bombs appear have to gone off at the Taj Hotel, and atleast one at the Oberoi. It appears most of the attacks were in the commercial district in the south of the city, though other sites have reports of attacks as well.

The terrorists appear to be pinpointing westerners, especially Americans and Brits.  However, most of the casualties are Indian.  An organization calling itself the Deccan Mujahideen claimed it was behind attacks in India’s financial capital Mumbai that have left at least 80 people dead, television channels reported, according to Reuters. US intelligence is doubtful, and actually suspects Lashkar-e-Toiba , a well know Pakistani Kashmiri terrorist group, with now links to Al Qaeda.

Among the dead is India’s chief antiterror minister, Hemant Karkare.  Additionally, numerous people are reported to be held hostage within several hotels.  Active gunfights are still occurring there, as well as the train station.  Reports of terrorists hijacking a police vehicle and arbitrarily shooting into crowds has also been filmed.
