The Obamaites slip up… December 15, 2008

UPDATE:  The Obama people came out and stated that there were no inappropriate discussions with Governor Blagojevich. This is obvious.  What isn’t is what discussions did occur, and why are they so hesitant to talk about it? Again, I don’t expect any criminal involvement.  But again, they are taking an inordinate amount of time to answer very simple questions.

ORIGINAL POST:  This entire mess with Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich has grown out of proportion; and it is entirely the fault of Obama’s administration.

Last week, Obama himself gave a ‘meh’ response; Obama press secretary gave even a weaker response.  Then, the Obama people including David Axelrod came out and said that Obama had no opinion on the selection of the replacement senator (this, after just two weeks earlier Axelrod had said the opposite).

Over the weekend comes news that Rahm Emanuel was caught on FBI tapes discussing with the Governor a list of choices that President-elect Obama would like to replace him.  That’s right; a list that last week they denied ever having.  On the list were Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett, Illinois Veterans Affairs director Tammy Duckworth, state Comptroller Dan Hynes and U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky of Chicago.  To compound matters, Jarrett was on Meet the Press over the weekend, denying ever wanting to be senator.  Axelrod came out and said Jarrett was never considered by Obama and his people.

And Rahm  Emanuel has seem to lost it all together.  He has had several angry encounters with the press over the past week.  Then, after allowing one ABC reporter who was upon a throng of reporters staking out his house to use the bathroom, he started  a tirade blaming the press for death threats.  The ABC reporter:

Emanuel appeared “beet-red,” according to an ABC News cameraman who was invited inside by Emmanuel to use his bathroom this morning. I’m getting regular death threats. You’ve put my home address on national television. I’m pissed at the networks. You’ve intruded too much, ” Emanuel said, according to the cameraman.

There is still ABSOLUTELY NO EVIDENCE OF WRONG DOING HERE.  So before all of you Obama supporters send me hundreds of angry emails again, don’t start.  I am not insinuating anything of the sort.

However, the Obama people have seriously screwed up what should have been a mini-crisis, and made it into a full blown mess.   For one, they have clearly not told the entire truth, either intentionally or otherwise.

Obama needs to get these people in a room, ask them straight out when they knew what and when, and then clearly state what the story is.  It will be better for everyone, most important, the President-elect.

Just politics as usual. Was anyone really expecting any “CHANGE” in this regard?
