Meg Whitman, considered my many one of the leading businesswomen in America, plans to run for Governor of California in 2010, when Arnold Schwartznegger leaves office.

Whitman, who was an outspoken advocate of John McCain during the presidential campaign, has already resigned her posts on several business boards in order to clean up her business dealings before the election cycle.  Whitman could very well self finance her campaign; she is estimated to be worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

The leading Democratic challengers are Former Governor and current Attorney General Jerry Brown, and current U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein.
