More Harry Reid, Ignoramus Gigantus… January 8, 2009

So, this week has not been kind to Harry Reid.

First, Sunday on Meet the Press, he declares Roland Burris will never be seated in the Senate.  Three days later, all blocks to Burris appear to have fallen away.  The Senate is getting ready to accept him as the next Senator from Illinois.

Now, Reid states that Al Franken v. Norm Coleman race in Minnesota is over, finished, finito…

“Al Franken has won the election,” he said. “Norm Coleman will never be a senator unless he beats [Sen. Amy] Klobuchar,” who isn’t up for reelection until 2012.

Franken leads by 225 votes after the recount.  Only one problem.  Norm Coleman is contesting the election, a clear right that he has under Minnesota law.

To further Reid’s idiocy, he was asked if Franken would have to meet the same bar as Burris, i.e. being signed off by the state attorney general and governor.  Reid responded by saying “Illinois and Minnesota are two different states.”  What a brilliant observation.

The Democrats, and Obama in particular, would be well served to get Reid out of the leadership.  He is an embarrassment.
