The Illinois Supreme Court today declared that no other action, by the Secretary of State of Illinois or anyone else, is needed to properly appoint Roland Burris to the U.S. Senate.

The Court, along with Sec. of State Jesse White, have both now stated that White’s signature is unnecessary to seat Burris.  This, of course, goes against the supposed statements of Harry Reid and the Democratic leadership, which were specifically using the lack of the signature as the lone excuse not to seat Burris.  All barriers have now fallen away, and it is unlikely that Reid will be able to keep his promise of keeping any Blago appointment out of the senate.

This, of course, comes on the same afternoon that the Illinois House voted to impeach Gov. Rod Blagojevich.  A trial will now be held in the Illinois Senate.
