As usual, the Oscars screw it up.

Oh, sure, they gave movies such as “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” and “Slumdog Millionaire”  their just due.  And Heath Ledger may be the biggest shoo-in in Oscar history, nominated for Best Supporting Actor.

But not nominating “The Dark Knight” for Best Movie or Best Director?  Are they serious?

Is “The Reader” or “Frost/Nixon” really better films?  Sure, “Milk” deserved a nomination.  But to leave the Dark Knight out is embarrassing.  In fact, while I am complaining, what about “Wall-E”?  Another fantastic film.

So the second highest grossing film of all time, which unanimously got praise as an beautiful film, is shut out.  And you wonder why the Oscars mean less and less every year.
